Improv 101: A fun workshop focusing on the basic skills of improvisation. Great for those looking to improve their speaking & listening skills, gain confidence, & learn to think on their feet.
If You Build It...: Character & environment are two of the fundamental building blocks for strong scene work. Discover ways to morph into full and interesting characters on the spot and use them in scenes to easily create rich & detailed environments and vice versa.
Causing a Scene: An intensive in improvised scene work & relationships. Connect with your scene partners, inject emotion into your work, & get your audience to care.
Ignite your Scenes: Sometimes the toughest part of any scene is just getting it started. Figure out a few new techniques you can use to help jump start life into any scene & put yourself in the best position to support your partner.
Get Your Game On: Learn to play some of your favorite improv games from shows like: "Whose Line is it Anyway?"
Performance Intensive: Focused on weaving improvised scenes together to form a cohesive show. Discover different techniques for creating second beats to a scene, having fun with callbacks, finding themes, & making tangential connections. Explore different performance formats.
Tag You're It: If You're not having fun on stage, then you're missing the point. This workshop is all about finding new ways to inject a sense of playfulness into your shows. Discover various methods to explore those ideas that tickle you in a scene all while aggressively supporting your fellow performers.
Improv Weight Room: Bulk up your improv muscles with individual challenges & specific exercises inspired by how you play. Discover some of your improv habits & find ways to expand beyond them. This workshop is designed to diagnose & then snap you out of your improv comfort zone & help take your scene work to the next level.

Instructor Bio

Peter Robards has been involved with improv in one way or another for almost as long as he can remember. He trained with The Annoyance, iO Chicago, & The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York.
Peter has performed in well over a dozen improv festivals all across the country & has lead workshops in various cities throughout the Midwest.
In Chicago Peter can be seen performing regularly at The Annoyance Theater, The Playground theater, & The Chemically Imbalanced Theater, where he is an an artistic associate.
Workshops typically run around two hours. However with advance notice they can be adjusted to fit almost any time frame.
